Bio
Yimiao "Iris" Chen, a Chinese violinist and Gold Prize winner of the 6th Jaen-Torres International Violin Competition, has performed at venues like Carnegie Hall, Allice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, New York, Shanghai Grand Theater and Ernst C. Stifel Hall, etc. She works with many orchestras such as Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Lyric Opera(First Violin Third Chair), the Princeton Symphony Orchestra(Associate Principal Second), the Washington National Opera(Concertmaster), Baltimore Choral Arts Society, Symphony in C(Associate Concertmaster), etc.
As an educator, Iris has taught all levels of students from the beginner to music pre-college and college applicants. She teaches ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) including violin performance, music theory, and ear-training tests and coach orchestra excerpts for all ages and levels in both English and Mandarin.
Iris received her B.M degree from the Juilliard school, M.M degree from Mannes School of Music, and Doctoral degree from Peabody Institute/ Johns Hopkins University.
